Pink Lady Slipper
Cypripedium acaule
Pink Lady Slipper is also known as Moccasin Flower, Stemless Lady's-slipper, Pink Lady's-slipper. It is a perennial orchid emerging from thickened roots; displaying 2 basal leaves and a large, showy flower on an erect stalk, growing 20 - 30 cm tall.
Pink Lady Slipper has 2 basal leaves at stem base, large (10 - 20 cm long), almost opposite; elliptic, tapering to a pointed tip, sparsely hairy, with conspicuous parallel veins.
The Pink Lady Slipper leaves are solitary; pink (sometimes white) with reddish veins to greenish-brown; lip large, inflated into showy pounch, cleft on the upper side; single green bract arching forward from the stalk over the flower;appearing early summer.
The fruit of the Pink Lady Slipper has ascending brown capsules under the floral bract with thousands of tiny seeds; developing thoughout midsummer.
Pink Lady Slipper... The trees are between 12" and 24" tall when shipped... And shipped Bare Root...
Shipping and planting times are winter and spring months. Please choose from following months: November thru April. But we will make exceptions with limited warranties due to heat during shipping.
And, any tree shipped during normal green and growth months ... which is May through October is going to arrive with brown, burned leaves. They will recover and go green again, but they are going to look dead on arrival.
