Sutton Farms Shipping Information...

Our Guarantee to You

For damaged in transit: We want to ensure your plants arrive safely. We package our plants with the best possible boxes and packing to protect them. They are soaked in Miracle Grow Liquid Fertilizer and Vitamin B-1 Mix the night before shipment. Then wrapped in newspapers, wetted down again, put in plastic bag and sealed, before they are boxed for shipment. We take every precaution to ensure your trees will arrive safely. We all know accidents sometime take place during shipping. We therefore offer you the choice of paying for insurance for potential damage during shipping. If you do not purchase insurance for your shipments, we are therefore not responsible for damage which occurred during shipment.

Healthy Plants: The heat of summer is not typically the best time to ship plants. However, we will ship the plants if you prefer. We take every precaution we can to ensure you receive healthy plants. As with all living plants, containerized or bare root, you can expect a death loss. It is virtually impossible to achieve a 100% survival rate. When you have properly cared for (by following our printed planting instructions) your newly purchased plants, and you experience an excessive loss (40% or more of your order) in the first year, just write to:

Sutton Farms
C/O Jerry Sutton
155 Sutton Lane

Please detail your loss and include a picture of the plants you are seeking replacements on. Once we receive your inquiry request, we will decide if we are going to replace the plants or if we need additional information such as having the plants shipped back to us or soil testing done. We will provide a one time (ONLY ONE TIME) replacement of the trees purchased. If we are currently out of stock of that item we will gladly offer a substitute or you can choose to wait until the next shipping season for your area. You will be responsible for standard shipping and handling for the replacements as posted on this auction. Our guarantee does not cover plants planted in fill, scraped ground, or ground unsuitable for those species as outlined in the informational material contained on this web site pertaining to particular species of plants. Any destruction of plants pursuant to weather, livestock, drought, insecticides or herbicides, fires, floods, etc. are not covered by this guarantee. Our guarantee does not cover plants that are planted in a Zone(s) not recommended for the plant. Zones are posted on each product page. In the event of multiple claims or excessive losses, we may require a soil test be completed to rule out soil compatibility problems. Claims for replacements will be considered only on losses of over 40% of the species received. It is mutually agreed that seller will not at any time be liable for any amount greater than the original purchase price of nursery stock.

REMEMBER YOUR PLANTS ARE LIKELY DORMANT AND NOT DEAD - The majority of the plants we send are in a dormant state in which they dry up and look dead. Many of the plants are bare root; meaning there will not be dirt surrounding the roots, nor will they be in pots.

Dormancy is the state that a plant/tree/shrub goes into during the winter in cold climates and is the safest way to transport live plants. We keep our bare root items in climate-controlled coolers to keep them in this dormant state until they are packaged for shipping. Some plants may look droopy, or even appear to be dead sticks on arrival. Give them a chance. Plant as directed and water regularly and the plants will almost certainly revive.

NORMAL & SAFE SHIPPING TIMES ARE NORMALLY:

To adhere to USPS rules YOU MUST SPECIFY A SHIPPING DATE IF YOU WISH US TO HOLD PLANTS FOR LATER SHIPMENT. If no date is specified we MUST ship your plants within 30 days or less, regardless of weather and/or weather conditions. All dates listed below are based on normal weather conditions. If unusual weather such at heat waves, cold snaps, etc., occur these dates are subject to change. We want the plants to arrive alive ... And this is only possible with proper weather conditions. We have no control over Mother Nature.

PLANT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - For best results, plant right away. If woody plants dry out during transit, soak them in water for 2 - 24 hours. Non-woody bare root plants should NOT be soaked. If immediate planting is not possible, the bulbs and perennials should be stored in a cool, dry, dark place such as an unheated garage or basement. Perennials should have their roots lightly moistened. Otherwise, all plants should be planted immediately.
