Newport Plum
Prunus cerasifera 'Newport'

A superior small ornamental tree. Beautiful purple-red foliage with bright red tips all summer long, reddish color in fall. It produces fragrant light pink flowers. Upright spreading, broadly oval to rounded.
FLOWERS: Pale pink to almost white before the leaves.
LEAVES: Alternate and purple in full sun. Has fine serrations. Up to 3" long. Stay purple all summer.
GROWTH HABIT: Round headed tree that grows 15' to 20' high and wide.
OTHER: Hardy from zone 5 to 9. Does very well in the south. It will not tolerate pollution. The two most popular purpleleaf plum cultivars are 'Newport' and 'Thundercloud'. Fruits sporadically with edible fruit.
Newport Plum Trees... The trees are between 12" and 24" tall when shipped... And shipped Bare Root...
Shipping and planting times are winter and spring months. Please choose from following months: November thru April. But we will make exceptions with limited warranties due to heat during shipping.
And, any tree shipped during normal green and growth months ...which is May through October is going to arrive with brown, burned leaves. They will recover and go green again, but they are going to look dead on arrival.
