Eastern Redcedar
Juniperus virginiana

A very dense columnar ornamental that is excellent for wildlife habitat and as a windbreak. They make beautiful roadway "hedges" .. But do grow rather high over the years and will get to be about 16 foot across ... So leave room for them to grow.
They are even more beautiful when you make them the focal point(s) of your landscaping.
Wood is used in Cedar chests. Does well from Georgia north. If you have ever driven the highways of Kentucky and Tennessee you already know they will grow most anywhere ... Almost with no care. This is witnessed from the fact they grow "out of" and "on" the rocks the interstate and highways were cut through. However, they will grow faster and produce a more shapely tree when given proper care.
If you do a search on Cedar Trees on the Internet you will read countless legends and "old timer" luck beliefs about this tree. Grows
best in full sunlight. This is my own personal opinion -- but I think the Cedar is the most beautiful Christmas tree money can
buy. When planted near the entry of a house it can be decorated as a living Christmas tree year after year. When pruned annually they
will stay perfect and all sides will be beautiful. Our farm in Western Kentucky is loaded with these trees. From seedlings a few inches
in height to well over 50 feet.
